Four-ball

THE sunny weekend at Otley Golf Club attracted 62 pairs in the men's four-ball, better- ball medal competition on Saturday.

Leading scorers: A Calder (10) and B Delude (12), 62; C Palmer (16) and M Shippey (25), 63; P Marks (10) and A Stewart (9), 64; M Frisby (21) and A Halsall (14), 64; A H Stott (15) and G N Barclay (15), 64; K Davison (13) and D Pickles (10), 65; M Driver (11) and C Wheeler (16), 65; D Newton (9) and J Denmark (10), 65.

Unfortunately, because of persistent heavy rain, the Ladies' Tuesday competition had to be abandoned, very few ventured out.

Horsforth GC

VERY favourable, spring-like conditions welcomed the 169 Horsforth Golf Club members playing in the March Stableford competition last Saturday.

Results in the first division had to be decided on a count-back of the back nine holes. Men's results:

Division One - 1, P Schofield (8), 39 points (best back three); 2, M Dobson (12), 39 (Best back six); 3, M R Booth (11), 39 (best back nine).

Division Two - 1, K Chaplin (14), 44 points; 2, M King (17), 43; 3, P F Moran (14), 41.

Division Three - 1, D Coverdale (23), 44 points; 2, S Dale (21), 39 (best back nine); 3, M Loftus (19), 39.

The Ladies' competition on Tuesday was abandoned when some greens became unplayable due to heavy rain.

Ben Rhydding

Golf Club

A team consisting of A Atkins, T M Lockwood, T Rockett and A Clark played away at Riddlesden Golf Club in the second round of the "Mail on Sunday" knock-out competition.

They came away with a very good three and a half to a half point win.

Ben Rhydding now progress to the next round and look forward to meeting their next opponents.
