A group of former sixth-formers travelled from as far afield as Spain to catch up with friends at a reunion originally organised 20 years ago.
Former pupils at Prince Henry's Grammar School in Otley promised to meet up in the year 2000 - and kept their word.
More than 40 former schoolmates turned out at the meeting at the Buttercross, in Otley, after keeping the date free in their diary for 20 years.
Some even turned out with the original tickets - which were printed two decades ago - after digging them out from their lofts and garages.
Richard Brown, who printed the original tickets, said the date had been etched on his memory but he was surprised to see so many turn out.
He said: "It was fantastic, unbelievable. At least 80 per cent of the sixth form turned up. People travelled from Edinburgh, London and one flew in from Madrid. There must have been 10,000 miles clocked up as people travelled from all directions to get to Otley."
Mr Brown, now 36, added: "At the time I did it almost as a joke. It seemed so long away you imagined people would be wearing space suits. It was amazing that so many people remembered."
The group moved from the Buttercross to their former regular haunt The Bowling Green before going to a restaurant.
