A SELF-CONFESSED chocaholic has trimmed her weight down by four stones - despite working behind the counter of a sweet shop.

Angela Tetley was desperate to lose some of her 13st 10lb to fit into her summer clothes but was forced to stare temptation in the face - literally.

Angela, of North Street, Otley, said: "Last April I started to try on my summer clothes and they were all tight. I thought I am going to go up another size this summer and I just didn't want to do it. But I was surrounded by sweets all day and every day at work."

Determined to lose weight Angela had to exercise an iron will to curb her chocolate cravings in her job behind the counter at Candies sweet shop, in the Market Place, Otley.

The mother of two said: "I am a chocaholic and we had a pick and mix - and that's what I did."

Angela enlisted the help of a local slimming club and found that she could enjoy most foods and still lose weight - even sweets.

She said: "I joined Weight Watchers and I started to bring their sweets to work and leave them on the counter in case of temptation. It was easier than I thought once I got into the swing of it."

The weight soon dropped off and Angela had no trouble getting down to her 9st 10lb target..

Angela, who now has a different job with the same company, says her husband, Peter, and her sons Ben, 15, and Sam, 12, were very supportive in her struggle to lose weight - and are thrilled with her new look.

She said: "Peter says it's like having a new woman, I have changed so much. He says I am a lot more content with myself.

"The boys were quite complimentary about it and say I am looking better. They were very supportive."

Audrey Wilson, group leader of Otley Weight Watchers, which meets in Otley Civic Centre on Tuesdays at 7pm and Wednesday at 10am, said: "She has done absolutely fantastic with all that temptation. She is an example to us all. She gets everybody gasping. It is very motivating for the rest of us."
