RUGBY LEAGUE rules have stopped two young players turning out with their favourite teams.
Suzanne Hill played her last match with Cougar Cubs Under-11's last week, helping them to end their season on a high.
She has played with the team for several seasons, but the rules of BARLA - the British amateur Rugby League Association - say that their can be no mixed sex teams above the Under-11 age group.
"The lads are very sad to lose her, because Suzanne has been a valuable member of the team," said the Cubs coach.
Fourteen-year-old Oakbank pupil Khazim Ahmed has also been stopped from playing for Keighley Town because he lives in Bradford.
Khazim, who plays stand-off, attends Oakbank because of its sports college status and hopes to make a professional career in rugby league. Until recently he played for Rodley Rockets, but attempted to sign for Keighley Town juniors when his club folded.
Committee man Tom Paton, said: "He travels to Oakbank School - I just can't understand how the they can dictate where he plays. The lad is gutted - he has a promising career and this could ruin it."
