TROJANS...........1
SPA ATH...........7
IN budget week Burley Trojans found the demands on their playing resources too taxing as they crashed to their heaviest defeat of the season.
With only four recognised first teamers in their line up, the home side paid the price against a rampant Spa, for whom former Trojan Andy Dukes weighed in with a hat- trick.
Trojans matched their visitors for the first 15 minutes before falling behind. Spa struck again to double their lead before the break.
After going three down Trojans hit back with an excellent strike from Nick Quaife. The influential midfielder was put clear and he coolly lobbed the stranded 'keeper to give Trojans a glimmer of hope.
This was emphatically extinguished by Spa who then ran amok adding a further four goals before the referee brought an end to Trojans suffering.

Tockwith Res...........3
Trojans Res..............2
On a black weekend for Trojans, the Reserves slipped to an unexpected defeat at Tockwith and so lost further ground in the promotion race.
With Black Swan looking odds on to lift the Third Division title, the battle for second spot looks to be a three horse race between Trojans, Bass Social and Thirsk Falcons.
The Tockwith pitch with it's immaculate playing surface was ideal for Trojans passing game, however they struggled to come to terms with their more experienced opponents.
Striker Sam Tobin gave the home side a two goal cushion by half-time both courtesy of some generous defending by the visitors. It took a third goal on the hour from Rich Crowther, again set up by Tobin, to rouse Trojans from their slumber.
Andy Vowles then saw his long range effort tipped wide before Iain Gibbons reduced the deficit. John Mutton and Rob Wheeler combined to set up the opening and Gibbons turned to send an acrobatic volley over the 'keeper's head.
With midfielders Pete Sumner and Man-of-the-Match Vowles beginning to dominate proceedings a comeback looked on the cards and with ten minutes remaining Trojans struck again.
A free-kick was awarded in centre field and Sumner picked out Jamie Davey on the far post.
The big striker deftly controlling on his chest before coolly slipping the ball past the 'keeper.
With time running out Davey was fouled 25 yards out and Sumner's swerving free-kick was brilliantly turned onto the bar by the Tockwith 'keeper.
l The Reserves travel to Thirsk Falcons Reserves on Saturday for the Supplementary Cup semi-final, kick- off 3.00pm.
