Keighley police are setting up a crime prevention and Neighbourhood Watch week.

Crime prevention officers Sgt Adrian Foyston and Sgt Steve Taylor decided to run an independent campaign rather than focus on June's National Neighbourhood Watch Week.

They are hoping to use Bow Street's former British Gas showrooms to set up a display, and dispense advice and information.

Chief Supt Derek Bonnard has used some of his budget to fund 36 giant display boards.

Officers plan to run the campaign from Saturday, May 6, to Saturday, May 13.

* Police in Keighley are hoping to raise £20,000 for local good causes.

They are considering having a lottery-style system where groups or individuals apply for a share of the money and a committee considers each application. Applications with a crime prevention link will be considered.

The money will be raised through sale of raffle tickets. Prizes which are likely to include a car are still being negotiated.
