champions
IN excellent conditions this game was to decide the division champions. From the whistle Rawdon pressed and were unlucky not to go ahead on more than one occasion. Sowden and Moutrie ruled midfield and put some wonderful balls through for Larkins and Suggitt up front. Rawdon's back four were rarely troubled but Saunders made some good runs. Sowden made some telling tackles and sent some great corners in but it remained 0-0 at half-time.
Early in the second-half Larkins almost scored with a screamer but after good pressure from Sowden. Again Sowden sent Larkins wide to run into the box and he almost scored again. Wilkinson was outstanding on the left for Rawdon but Otley came back into it and equalised late on. Suggitt almost won the game for Rawdon hitting the post. This gave Rawdon the championship very deservedly. It was an excellent game but Rawdon finished the better team.
