A new-style Investors in People award is to be launched next month which is expected to raise standards in firms across the Bradford district.

Some 300 companies from the Bradford district have already been presented with the award and a gala event is to be held in their honour at the Cedar Court Hotel from 5.30pm on May 8 which will also explain the new way of working.

And the following morning the Cedar Court will also be the venue for a gala breakfast from 7.30am where the standard will be explained to people looking to gain the new-look standard.

Many firms in the district have found IiP has brought about greater loyalty and motivation of the workforce, enhanced skills, greater efficiency, and improved financial performance.

Supported from the outset by both the CBI and TUC, Investors in People recognises that a business's greatest asset is its people. It has proved that by providing ongoing training and development for its employees an organisation becomes more competitive and potentially far more successful.

Both events will feature guest speakers including well known broadcaster Professor Laurie Taylor, Peter Russian, development manager of Investors in People UK, Jeremy Webster, from management consultants Crane Davies,, TEC director Michael Parkinson who was awarded the OBE for services to training and education, and Will Venters, a producer for Yorkshire Television.

For details about the IiP gala events contact the TEC on (01274) 751333.
