Bradford-based Totty Construction is hoping to come away with an honour in the nationally-acclaimed Considerate Constructors Awards.
The firm, based in Greengates, is entering the prestigious Yorkshire Herald Building development in York in the awards.
The £4 million river-front development for a multi-screen cinema complex and restaurant retains the historic facade of the building dating back to the 1920s.
Throughout construction great care was taken to minimise the environmental impact. Barges on the adjacent River Ouse were used to transport materials to and from the site, rather than through the thriving pedestrian shopping centre nearby.
The care taken by Totty to curtail the disruption to local inhabitants makes the Coney Street project a prime candidate for Considerate Constructors success.
