A MAJOR sporting festival is looking to the Wharfedale and Aireborough community for
support.
Organisers of Horsforth Sports Festival, on June 18, are looking for people to join in the fun on the day and have printed 3,000 posters and entry forms that detail the events which individuals and teams can take part.
Events range from a 10 mile boundary run of Horsforth to skateboarding, kwik cricket and egg throwing.
Chairman of event organisers Horsforth Fellandale, Mark Saville, said: "We are hoping for around 1,500 competitors on the day. It is all about having fun and having a go - whether you are three or 103 years old.
"Some of these events are going to be extremely popular and we are asking people to get their entries in early. Entry forms are available from leisure centres, libraries and shops.
"Eight clubs have got together to put the day on, which has been partly financed by a Lottery Grant and through sponsorship. It is the first time, to our knowledge, that such an event has taken place in Horsforth and we hope to get as many societies, schools, pubs, clubs, businesses and individuals taking part - it will be a lot of fun and hard work."
