FRICKLEY...........2
Guiseley...........2
MANAGER Bobby Davison grabbed a vital point for his side with a 50th minute strike after good work by a rejuvenated Simon Trevitt.
As Guiseley have struggled in recent weeks and plummeted ever closer to the relegation zone central defender Trevitt has returned to the club to put in some sterling performances in a beleagured defence.
Tuesday's trip to the Siberia like Frickley Athletic ground followed hot on the heels of a defeat by Worksop Town on Saturday.
At Frickley Guiseley's leading scorer Simon Parke gave them a sixth minute lead rolling the ball into the net after being set up by Des Hazel.
The lead was short-lived however as Frickley's Chris Hurst netted twice before the break.
Some words of wisdom from Davison saw Guiseley, who had dropped David Cooke and Andy Shuttleworth from Saturday's line-up and still lacked the injured Simon Phillips, Neil Parsley, Tony Agana, Andy Williams, Lee Poole and Simon Ireland, come out fighting.
They produced a string of half chances and were mightily relieved when Davison netted the equaliser to give them a valuable point.
Guiseley are now five points ahead of second from bottom Spennymoor who have two games in hand. Bottom club Winsford were hammered 6-1 by Runcorn as Guiseley battled at Frickley.
Davison will envy Spennymoor who have had a frantic week of transfer activity signing ten players on deadline as they mount their own battle to avoid relegation.
Davison does not have the luxury of money to spend on new signings and will have to battle on with the squad he has - decimated as it is with injury.
In Saturday's 1-0 defeat by Worksop Guiseley failed to score from the penalty spot at the end of a dismal game.
This defeat made it nine games at Nethermoor since their last win and they will be now looking to turn the corner on Saturday when Marine are the visitors.
In a game of few chances from either side it took a pull by the labouring Steve Hook to present Worksop with their chance.
The big central defender was beaten and tugged Ryan Ludlam back. The free-kick was awarded just outside the penalty area and Gary Townsend smashed the ball past James Shutt in the 44th minute.
Des Hazel blasted two good chances high over the bar as Guiseley tried in vain to get back into the game.
They were given an even better chance when Ludlam handled in the area and Guiseley were awarded a penalty.
Left-back Benn Gallagher stepped forward but his effort was saved by Kennedy who also kept out Hook's effort from the rebound.
l On Saturday Guiseley entertain Marine with a 3 pm kick-off and then on Tuesday entertain Hyde United with a 7.30 pm kick-off.
EMLEY...............0
ACADEMY..........2
WITH five new signings in the squad and seven under 17 players, Guiseley started second favourites to Emley, fresh from their win over second-placed Cup finalists New Earswick.
However, the game was rather different to expectations and Guiseley recorded an excellent 2-0 after weathering stormy spells at the end of each half.
Greg Jowitt hit the first goal after ten minutes following a fine passing move and Longfellow sealed the game with a glorious lob moments after coming on to the field after an hour.
Ian Hudson, Richard Beckram, John Lamb and Peter Sumner were all heroes for Guiseley but it was a splendid team performance from the younger players that earned the win.
