A cyclist was killed in an accident with an articulated lorry today.
The accident occurred at Broadway, part of the Leeds outer ring road, between Rodley and Horsforth.
The road from Horsforth into Bradford was blocked for three hours after the accident at 5.30am while emergency services attended the scene.
Both the male cyclist, who has not been named, and the lorry had been travelling from Rodley towards Horsforth.
Police have appealed for anyone who witnessed the incident to contact them on (0113) 241 3547.
Meanwhile an off-duty policeman was seriously hurt after his motorbike was in collision with a car in Bradford.
The 39-year-old had been riding home from a shift at Odsal Police Station when the accident happened at 4.50pm yesterday.
His bike collided with a Toyota saloon on Canal Road, close to the junction with Kings Road, and the policeman, who has not been named, was thrown to the ground.
He suffered a broken left arm, bruising and had a number of teeth knocked out.
He was recovering in Bradford Royal Infirmary this afternoon.
