Guiseley 0, Hyde United 1: Guiseley slipped even closer to the relegation zone in the Uni-Bond Premier when high flying Hyde United escaped from Nethermoor with all three points.
It turned out to be a night of double heartache for Guiseley as Spennymoor romped to a comfortable 3-1 home win over mid-table Leek Town.
That leaves Guiseley still third from bottom, just above the trapdoor, but Spennymoor are now just one point behind and have two games in hand.
The outcome hinged on an incident on the stroke of half time.
A Benn Gallagher cross was met with a well directed header from Simon Parke and as it arrowed toward the net it appeared to be turned for a corner by a defender's hand.
Guiseley players protested but the referee insisted he had not seen an infringement. Hyde's winner came in the 73rd minute when Lloyd Richard-son stooped to convert a bouncing through ball with a low header.
Eccleshill United face their third Northern Counties East Premier Division game in five days tonight when they travel to Hallam.
Confidence is high in the United camp and they showed no hangover from Saturday's unfortunate 1-0 home defeat by quickly getting back to winning ways with a 2-1 victory at Staveley MW on Monday.
