THE Beamsley Project, which provides self-catering holiday accommodation for people with disabilities, has reached another milestone its development plans.
Work has been progressing since last October on the refurbishment of the former caretaker's cottage at Bolton Abbey, including building an extra bedroom and a total
conversion.
It now has a state-of-the-art chair lift to the first floor, a modern kitchen and bathroom with wheelchair shower.
Vincent Dobson, the builder, formally handed over the keys to project chairman Dr Wesley Hydes before conducting the trustees on a tour of the cottage.
Dr Hydes said he was pleased with the way the contract had developed and thanked all those involved for their hard work.
He looked forward to equipping and furnishing the cottage in the next few weeks and to the many people who will now be able to enjoy a holiday in the Dales.
The cottage will accommodate families or small groups of up to six people and is a useful extension to the facilities provided in the main centre.
There will be an official opening later in the year and an Open Day to enable local people and benefactors to see the changes.
The season has started well with 21 people from Liverpool enjoying a weekend break. Another group from Sheffield will also be enjoying a break this week.
