OVER 160 children took part in the latest schools rugby league tournament held at Cougar park this week.
Pupils from nine schools took part in the competition which was organised by Cougar stars Jason Ramshaw and Matt Foster.
"It was the biggest tournament we have ever had and the high standard of play was a credit to all the boys and girls who took part. There has been tremendous enthusiasm, not just at the tournament itself, but when we have been holding coaching sessions at the schools," Jason said.
Teams from St Annes, Worth Valley, Parkside, bronte, Hothfield Street, Our Lady of Victories, Hartington, St Josephs and Swire Smith schools took part.
After group games Parkside beat Hartington 36-0 in one semi-final and St Jossph's beat Hothfield 18-6 to set up a thrilling final.
Parkside eventually took the title with a 12-6 victory over St Joseph's in a very tight game.
