Albion Under-18's have reached the play-off final of the West Riding and Yorkshire Youth competition.
Their 24-16 victory over Queensbury, who are coached by ex-Cougar favourite Brendan Hill, has put them into the final against top of the table side Thornhill from Dewsbury.
The Albion/Bingley side finished third in the table and Queensbury had already achieved a double against the Keighley side. They went ahead in the third minute, but Albion showed real fighting spirit.
After a thrilling battle which saw the lead change hands several times, Chris Atkins clinched victory with just three minutes to go. He burst through a string of tackles on a 35-yard run to the line and James Young converted to put the game beyond Queensbury.
Tries from Rob Littler and Andy Bailey, together with a Chris Atkins conversion and Young penalty gave Keighley a slender 12-10 lead at the break. The went behind until Young converted Richard Hollins' second half try, but the two point advantage looked vulnerable until Atkins produced his match-winning score.
Keighley Town Under-14's beat Emley Moor 60-36 in an all-action game. Town built up a 16-point first half lead and they piled on extra pressure in the second half. Try scorers were: Jackson (3), Paton (3), Burns, O'Connor, Kenna. Goals: Hudson (3), Cartledge (2) and man of the match D O'Connor.
Cougar Cubs Under-12's went down 14-20 to Huddersfield side Deighton in a superb game. Kirk McWhirter's two tries and a conversion by Peter Gower put the Cubs 10-4 up at the break. Deighton hit back with three tries to put the match but the Cubs never gave up and full-back Keith Shackleton pulled off another astonishing run to narrow the lead. Peter Gower was man of the match and most improved player was Simon Burgoyne.
