season continues
Aldwinians...................53 West Park.............3
WEST Park's miserable season on their travels continued as they were well beaten by an impressive Aldwinian's outfit. From the kick-off the home side tried to run everything, even from their own line, but a dropped pass saw Jason Whitehead hack on and chase but narrowly failing to score.
However, the resulting scrum resulted in fly-half Ben Chadwick popping over a drop goal to give Park the lead. This was the only Park score of the afternoon as the home outfit showed their superior class to run in three tries before the interval that came at 27-3 and the result a foregone conclusion.
Park opened the second-half brightly with a spirited reply led by forwards Eugene Grimes and Rhys Llewellyn. Indeed Park almost scored when a Llewellyn break was supported by Chadwick who was held up near the line. But in truth the home side's class was always going to be too much as they scored four second-half tries to take them past the half century and leave a never-say-die Park to reflect on yet another comprehensive defeat.
Park entertain Blackburn at the Sycamores on Saturday (3.00pm) as they try to gain their second league win of the season.
Park Veterans travelled to Menwith Hill and came away with not only a 73-6 victory but huge hangovers as their American hosts provided ample refreshment after the game.
