RETIRING community policeman Dave Robson was praised for his loyal service to the town by Otley councillors this week. Otley Mayor Councillor John Eveleigh, above left, thanked Pc Robson on behalf of the whole town and said he would be sorely missed. "Dave has done tremend us work for this town over a number of years. I have been in Otley for 12 years and during that time Dave has been very active in a lot of activities not only as a community policeman but more recently with a larger geographical remit taking in a lot of schools all over Otley. Dave is someone who gives community policing a good name. He has a tremendous record selflessly giving up his time to the community. We would like to say a big thankyou from the town and this town council, the work he has done has been phenomenal." Pc Robson, who officially retires in June but last week spent his last day at work, said it had been a pleasure to work in Otley. "When I came to Otley in 1969 I wanted to be part of the community. I have been very lucky that this community has taken me to their hearts. Because they did it has been a great big help to me. I would not have been able to do so much if it wasn't for the help of a great many people in the town. It has been a privilege and a pleasure to serve here.."Also pictured are, centre left, Lesley Robson and right, deputy mayor Coun Christine Campbell. (004-17-AH)
