THE future of Park Lane College in Otley could be secured shortly, we can reveal.
Developers Litton Properties, acting for Sainsbury's, has confirmed that it is '99.9 per cent certain' that Park Lane's current facilities in Bondgate will be moved to the old Wharfe Street School.
The move partly clears the way for a Sainsbury's community store to be built in Bondgate. Litton spokeswoman Jane Blower said: "We are much nearer to finalising the location than we were. The papers are with the solicitors at the moment and it could still fall through, but we are confident that a new site for Park Lane has been found."
If the deal does go through, it will alleviate fears that Otley would lose its college facilities if Sainsbury's was built. Ms Blower added that Litton was still talking to 'two or three' landowners about the relocation of Otley Fire Station.
