The boss of a firm hoping to take over troubled Bradford company DiamondSeal today vowed to take on as many staff as possible if the deal went ahead.
David Ruzicka, joint managing director of Grimethorpe-based Sash UK, also pledged to honour existing orders, warranties and guarantees for DiamondSeal customers if the talks were successful.
And he expects to be able to announce a takeover within the next few days after holding lengthy talks with bosses at the Gaisby Lane firm and administrative receivers from PricewaterhouseCoopers.
Both firms are involved in manufacturing and installing PVC-u windows, doors and conservatories.
Mr Ruzicka said: "We have been in negotiations for some time looking at a possible rescue package for the company. If our negotiations are successful, we will be looking to secure as many jobs in the Bradford area as possible although there will be some restructuring of the company.
"We are very sorry to say that part of this restructuring process will include the closure of the manufacturing plant with future emphasis being placed on the supply, fitting and customer service side of the business."
Mr Ruzicka said manufacturing of windows, conservatories and doors would take place at his firm's new £5 million factory which would employ some of DiamondSeal's manufacturing staff.
The move follows a decision by the DiamondSeal management to call in administrative receivers from PricewaterhouseCoopers last week after the firm clocked up debts of more than £1 million.
Mr Ruzicka also confirmed that the DiamondSeal brand would continue to exist and added: "From a customers' point of view, nothing will outwardly change as Sash UK already manufacture the same window, door and conservatory products as DiamondSeal."
The firm is also planning to set up a helpline. Meanwhile, DiamondSeal has a skeleton staff dealing with inquiries on (01274) 775533.
