Otley Town Res.........3 HARROGATE Railway Res....2
IN a great advertisement for Harrogate League football Otley Town Reserves won the Senior Cup Final in a game which went to extra-time at Boroughbridge. Town were the underdogs and they conceded an early goal but they bounced back with a goal from G Hutchinson after great work by Dave O'Halloran. Town took the lead when Bob Johnson curled in a free-kick.
The second-half was all Railway and a shot hit the bar with the rebound being forced home. With extra-time looming only stern defensive work kept Town in it.
Veteran defender Paul Bailey drove Town on in extra-time. They won a corner and skipper for the day Martin Gilks swerved his kick wickedly and it went straight into the net. There were a few anxious moments but Town had further chances to put the game out of reach.
The game was played in good spirit by both teams and credit must go to the match officials. Town's Man-of-the-Match was shared by Bailey and Hutchinson.
Manager Dave Crombleholme said: "We are grateful for the support we had on the day. We always thought we could win it and everyone at Town is pleased."
