Keighley Colts had a successful tour off the field when they travelled to the North East over the Easter weekend to play Percy Park and Morpeth. On the field was less successful with the lads losing their opening game 29-7 to a strong Percy Park team. Leigh Sugden scored Keighley's second half try which rewarded a fighting display by the tourists after they had trailed by twenty two points at the break.
The Morpeth fixture proved a more even contest until a number of defensive mistakes gave the home side a three-try advantage. Richard Cavender kicked two penalties for Keighley but Morpeth continued to take control and ran out winners by thirty five points to six.
