TWO Wharfedale players will receive honours at the Jewson National League awards ceremony

Andy Hodgson was a clear winner of the player of the year - awarded by votes cast by the coaching teams of the 14 clubs in the division.

It is the second successive year that the award has gone to Wharfedale as Hodgson follows in the footsteps of David Pears.

Hodgson, who returned to the club after a spell in rugby league with first Bradford Bulls and then the Wakefield Wildcats, has scored 19 tries for the Greens this season

Also picking up a trophy is Adam Mounsey. For the second time in the three years the awards have been running the Greens' marksman has come top of the kicker of the year poll awarded on percentage of successful kicks.

Mounsey edged the award at the weekend in the final round of matches without even playing! After Wharfedale's final league game against Lydney, when the Mounsey boot was slightly off-song, he dropped to second place behind Carson Russell of Bracknell.

But in Bracknell's last match Carson achieved only a 60 per cent success rate, and his total percentage dropped just below Mounsey's strike rate.

Mounsey finished with a 71.04 percent success, Russell on 70.5 percent.

There are three awards, and Wharfedale came close to sweeping the board.

Michael Harrison and Peter Hartley came second in the coach(es) of the year category.

Wharfedale have now taken four of the six awards made to players in the three years they have been running.
