A 56-year-old man was killed when his motorcycle was in a head-on collision with another biker on a Dales road.
Peter Dugdale, of Wigglesworth, near Skipton, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The other motorcyclist, Keith Garside, 38, of Rawcliffe, York, was also seriously injured in the crash. The two bikes collided on the A684 Leyburn to Hawes Road at Temple Bank at 10.24am on Sunday, and another biker, Rodney Stubbs, 54, also of Rawcliffe, York, was slightly injured after losing control when he was confronted by the crash scene.
Mr Garside is stable in Northallerton General Hospital. Police are appealing for witnesses or to anyone who saw the motorcycles just before the crash.
They should contact PC Frankland on 01609 789326 or 783131.
Sgt Tom Smart, of Skipton police, who helps run the county's Bike Safe 2000 scheme, a project to teach riding skills, urged bikers to always ride within their own capability.
"If bikers are riding with others in a group, they tend to try to ride at the speed of the person with the most experience - that is not the thing to do.
"Always ride within your own ability," he said.
