A busy week at
Otley Golf Club
IT was a busy golfing week at Otley Golf Club and even busier for Philip and Carolyn Gill, the caterers.
On Monday the Harrogate Society of Golf Captains held their Spring Meeting at Otley. An individual Stableford and a team event for the Robert Calvert Salver. Seventy-two captains and past captains in the Harrogate Union entered the competition and in the evening the 'Captain of Captains' Gordon Wray presented the prizes.
Tuesday saw the Ladies' Monthly Medal with 52 ladies taking part, and then apart from visiting parties there was a lull until Saturday when 126 men played in the Monthly Stableford.
On Sunday 56 players entered the Mixed Team Stableford. In the evening, after an excellent meal, the captain, David Payne, and the lady captain, Winifred Varley, presented the prizes.
Finally, on Spring Bank Holiday Monday, the 'Famous Grouse' Shotgun start took pace, with all the players competing for bottles of the amber nectar. Although a winner yet again, the prize presentation was made by the captain.
