ADEL were hoping to put one over on their rivals in the Airedale and Wharfedale League when they got a start to their game against Burley on Saturday.
On a day bedevilled by rain and waterlogged pitches only one other first team game got underway - that in which Woodhouse stole a march on their Division C rivals by gaining victory over Ben Rhydding.
At Adel the league leaders batted first and were 104-2 after 26 overs when the game was abandoned.
The weather spoiled the three Wheeler brother's first match together in the clubs most senior side. Andrew, Robert and Chris had frequently played together in the juniors and the seconds but never before for the firsts. In fact all eleven of Burley's team were former juniors of the club and they maintained the tradition of using home talent as the bedrock of the club.
A genuine attempt by both sides to get some cricket played gave rise to a 35 over game but after 26 overs of Adel's innings the rain fell more heavily causing the abandonment of the match with Adel on 100-2.
Everyone gave it their best endeavours but the weather was the victor.
Adel opener N Smith was soon dismissed for 13 being caught by Richard Brook off the bowling of young Andrew Wheeler but then Michael Dallaston (38) and Simon Wardley (41 no) set about the Burley bowling attack. Dallaston was eventually run out.
Adel now hold a two points lead over Guiseley with Rawdon in third place a further four points adrift.
In Division B Menston are the leaders with a four point advantage over Green Lane with Collingham in third place.
In Division C Woodhouse improved their position with a seven wickets win over visitors Ben Rhydding who were restricted to 158-5.
It was Ben Rhydding's best score of the season and will give them some hope for the coming weeks. After losing two cheap wickets M Booth (30) and M Aldous (30) rebuilt the foundations which were built on by N Sheard with 32 and J O'Hearne with 34 not out.
Woodhouse lost early wickets to T Todd but then their overseas player Namal Nawana, a Sri Lankan who has lived in Australia, took charge along with former Leeds Police batsman Mohamed Akram.
The pair shared a century stand putting on 111 for the third wicket in just 14 overs.
Nawana smashed 77 which included 5 sixes and 8 fours, while Akram hit an unbeaten 51 which included 10 fours.

Only one second team game was played and that was at Otley but that too fell victim to the weather after 18.3 overs.
Follifoot were batting and had reached 39-4 as M Daly got amongst them with a 3-24 return off 9.3 overs. Charlie Martin also picked up a wicket bowling an economical nine over spell to take 1-14.
Third team games fared a little better on Sunday with three being played in the Ian Chappell Cup.
Otley gained a 48 runs win over Knaresborough after posting a score of 158-7. Opener Tony Lazarus led the way with a fine 63 not out and there was good support from Ray Beadle with 36 and Jonny McGee with 25.
J Bridson took 5-55 off ten overs for Knaresborough who were dismissed for 110 in reply. Opener A Chadderton made 37 but the Otley bowlers did their job well and shared the wickets. G Rogers picked up 3-33, K Pullen 2-24, R Mason 2-30 and J McGee 2-18.
The morning mopping up exercise undertaken by Burley was rewarded with a decent game of cricket. The pitch was very clearly very damp andslow but Addingham batted with enthusiasm.
Stuart Dibb, himself a Burley resident, and Sam King, a Burley Junior footballer, were the main runmakers with 27 and 17 respectively and Addingham finished on 84-6 off their 40 overs.
Bradford City junior footballer Danny Forrest demonstrated his all round talents by taking 2-9.
Burley got to 28 before Atherton was out, James Hoskin maintained a good runrate but a few further wickets fell before junior player Neil Davies with a quick 28 ensured a win but had Addingham held their catches they could have won!

Rawdon also played and progressed to the next round after beating Kirkstall Educational.
