THE Airedale Wharfedale Bowls Cup Competitions continued this week with the Ronnie Collins Cup reaching the second round.

Farsley 'A' play Woodside 'B at Woodside by mutual agreement; Rufford 'A' play Tarnfield at Guiseley; Grove Hill 'A' play Menston at Rufford; Woodside 'A' play Guiseley at Armley Cons, Burley-in-Wharfedale play Yeadon Park 'B' at Wharfemeadows; Rufford 'A' play Bramley Libs at Farsley; Armley Cons play Moor Allerton at Yeadon Park.

The Aire-Wharfe Individual Merit Competition programme continues this week with the Earby Rose Pairs to be played on Sunday, June 11, at 10.30am, when 34 entries have been received. This year the greens of Myrtle Park and Bingley Glen are being used and the total prize money subject to entries being £200.

The Aire-Wharfe team had a more successful participation this year in the recent Inter Cities competitions held at Bradford, than in recent years, reaching the final stage, having overcome Leeds, a strong team in the early rounds, but unfortunately succumbing to Worth Valley in the final.
