Skybound Lynn Wild took a real flight of fancy aboard Concorde's last journey into Leeds-Bradford Airport.
The Skipton mum picked the historic occasion for her first aeroplane experience - but the dream trip was tinged with a hint of sadness.
For Lynn, whose husband Mick booked the trip as a 50th birthday treat, the day came ten years late.
She said: "My father and I had planned to make the trip for my 40th birthday. When Concorde first came to Leeds-Bradford Airport we sat at the end of the runway and said 'One day we will both fly on that'."
But as the couple prepared for the dream ride, Lynn's father Walter Waite, who had just retired from his job as an HGV driver, suffered a heart attack and died.
Lynn, from Farnhill, said: "As we looked out over Heathrow early on Saturday morning I took a photograph of him out of my purse and said 'We've done it at last, Dad'.
Engineer Mick, 42, had booked Lynn the last-chance ticket after reading how British Airways planned to axe the service.
"When I got next to Concorde it was very imposing and I thought 'Do I really want to be here?'" said Lynn.
"The captain came up and said I looked lost and lonely and I told him I hadn't flown before."
Lynn said she was immediately singled out for star treatment, being first to board the flight before having a special tour of the cockpit.
