Twelve clothing firms in Bradford and Halifax have started a training scheme to improve standards. The West Yorkshire Clothing Group Training Association started its first course at Halifax. The instructors came to Marsylka Ltd, Bradford, where nine schoolgirls acted as trainee sewing machinists.

Mr A Tiley, of Haslingden Drive, Bradford, was chosen last night as prospective Conservative and National Liberal candidate for the Central Division at the next General Election when he will oppose Maurice Webb, Minister of Food. Mr. Herbert Lee, chief Conservative agent, said Mr Tiley was recommended by a special sub-committee.
