Royal Mail customers in Bradford are receiving the best service in the country with nearly all first class post arriving the next working day.
Independently-monitored figures show Bradford has beaten the national target of 92.5 per cent for its first class mail delivery and is the best in the country with 95 per cent.
In the past two years, £5.7 million has been invested by Royal Mail which has built two new delivery offices for the city.
This is now paying dividends by allowing a faster and more efficient mail service, the Royal Mail said.
Royal Mail said customers in Bradford had also helped them achieve these excellent results by using postcodes.
During the last year 85.9 per cent of mail delivered in the Bradford area included a postcode, which meant millions of letters were able to be sorted using electronic equipment to speed them on their way.
Royal Mail's Bradford area manager Pete Chambers said: "These are excellent results, not only for us but for all our customers and we are delighted to be top of the league.
"We have improved our performance on the previous year, which stood at 94 per cent of first class letters being delivered the next working day. We deliver around 3.6 million items of mail a week to around 230,000 social and business addresses in the BD postcode area.
"Our investment of £5.7 million in Bradford North and South delivery offices is helping us to deliver the mail speedily and efficiently and we are delighted that so many of our customers are helping us by using the postcode."
