A PURPOSE-BUILT log cabin set in two acres of beautiful countryside is on its way to becoming Ilkley's first Scandinavian-style nursery.
Abacus Nursery on Wilton Road is the brainchild of experienced childcare worker Christine Butterworth, who has joined with social services staff and architects at Bradford City Council to build the cabin in the grounds of her father's home.
"I realised that there was a need for more child care provision in the area and so I thought of making use of my father's land," said Mrs Butterworth, also of Wilton Road. "This is an exciting project and I can't wait for it to be up and running."
The lodge, which is due to be finished later this month, will have room for 24 pre-school children and ten staff and will be open from 8am - 6pm, Monday to Friday.
