The boss of a haulage company who was banned from operating after one of his trucks killed six people has dropped his bid for a new operator's licence.
Tony Eyers, former managing director of Skipton-based Fewston Transport Ltd, had applied to set up a new company at Marston Moor Business Park, near York, in April.
But following public protest, his company, North Riding Waste, withdrew its application.
Three women, two men - including the lorry driver, Derek Waterworth, 63, of Bradford - and a two-year-old girl died in the accident at Sowerby Bridge in September 1993 after a lorry ran away down a hill.
The lorry was later found to have defective brakes on all eight wheels and Mr Eyers was banned from being a director for five years for failing to keep proper accounts and ordering records to be burned.
