THE councillor in charge of environment for the Bradford district is angry that work on toilets in Ilkley's central car park is already a month behind schedule.
Ilkley District and Parish Councillor Anne Hawkesworth said that the work to refurbish the toilets was due to take around 12 weeks but 16 weeks after it started, it is still going on.
After the recent council elections, giving the Tories control of the top jobs at City Hall, Coun Hawkesworth was given the job as environment executive.
"The council has now been notified by the contractors that the work will take 20 weeks and I am not happy about it," said Coun Hawkesworth.
She added: "We have told the contractors that if it costs more we are not going to pay it and it has to be finished right away."
She said that the work should have been completed before the main tourist season when the toilets were needed most of all.
