YOUNG table tennis stars have enjoyed a gold rush with a string of medals for members of the Keighley-based Bradford Table Tennis Development Scheme.
They have won a total of 80 medals, cups, trophies and awards at international, national, county and local level. The trophy cupboard is groaning under the weight after they recorded a total of 45 first places, 22 seconds and 13 third places.
Eleven-year-old Heather Shutt represented England Under-12's in France and she also helped the English Schools team to a gold medal performance in Cardiff.
Stephen Denny and Ian Parker were selected to represent Yorkshire Juniors who won the county championships.
Development scheme teams also had an excellent season winning silver medals in the British Junior League. The boys team was: Stephen Denny, Ian Parker and Andrew Woodhead with Andrew winning the individual fair play award in the competition.
The girls team of Nicola White, Heather Shutt and Katie Lightowler also won silver in the National Under-14 Hammersley Cup Final. They also won the Junior League's fair play award.
The Under-14 boys were Yorkshire Team Champions with Nick Clegg, Gareth Wills and Adam Broadbent. The Oakbank junior team also won the Third Division of the Keighley & District League.
