OAKBANK students launch a final push to keep the school's Sports College Status today with a massive sponsored walk.
After investigations into financial mis-managment by the school they were ordered to raise £75,000 and with over half the money already promised they were left needing £30,000 to secure the future of the college.
They are now within £2,500 of the target after a string of events including a sportsman's dinner, concert by the school's band 'Soul Fish' and donations from local companies.
About 700 pupils and members of staff are due to take part in the walk which has been sponsored by soft drinks giant Coca-Cola.
