Bradford City hope to complete the signing of Sheffield Wednesday full back Ian Nolan today just 24 hours after marking their European debut with a fine 3-1 win over FK Atlantas in Lithuania.
The Northern Ireland international is available on a free transfer under the Bosman Ruling and is set to join a squad buoyant after establishing a healthy lead for the second leg of their Intertoto Cup second round tie at Valley Parade on Sunday (3.00).
Goals by Isaiah Rankin, Dean Windass and Robbie Blake (penalty) make City favourites to clinch a third round tie against Dutch side RKC Waalwijk.
The win was a great boost for new boss Chris Hutchings, who was leading the side for the first time.
"People criticised us for competing in this competition, but I feel it is a good, valued exercise - made even better by the fact we have won the game.
"It's always good to win any match, but as this was my first it makes it that extra bit special.
"But I can promise we will not be taking Atlantas lightly in the second leg.
Today Hutchings was concentrating on completing his first signing. He said: "Ian is a very experienced player who has played in the Premiership for a couple of years. He is also a Northern Ireland international.
"We are signing him under the Bosman Ruling. If we can get one or two other players in of decent quality the same way it will leave money for other signings."
City have been linked with Leeds United midfield man David Hopkin, along with Sheffield Wednesday's Wim Jonk and Coventry striker Noel Whelan.
Hutchings plans talks with skipper Stuart McCall about City's offer to appoint him assistant manager when he returns from holiday in Florida tomorrow.
Tickets for City's second leg tie with FK Atlantas are on sale at Valley Parade for the Carlsberg Kop stand and the Ciba stand.
The Sunwin Stand is out of use while construction work on the addition of an extra tier continues.
