Around 1,000 people attended Bradford City's American style evening and ox-roast in the car park and drill hall adjoining the Valley Parade ground. There was five hours non-stop entertainment with the Merseybeats pop group, a disco, country and western music, stalls and side shows. The eveny was held to coincide with American Independence Day.

Bradford's accident figures for June, which reveal that there was one fatal accident and 102 involving personal injury, are the highest recorded for a summer month, and, with the exception of December 1948 and December 1949, when 105 people were injured in each month, are the highest since 1945.
