AN Ilkley postmaster has still not been found five months after dramatically going missing from his home.
Police this week renewed their appeal for information about the whereabouts of David Todd, who went missing from the Leeds Road Post Office on February 11.
A nationwide hunt for the 51-year-old was launched after his disappearance but police are no closer to finding him.
Sergeant Roger Golton, of Ilkley Police, said: "We are concerned for his safety because it's been a long time now and he went missing so suddenly.
"Until we find him we won't know what's happened.
"He's not been in touch with his family and nobody else that we know of has heard from him since he went."
Mr Todd's wife Sylvia, told police her
husband went downstairs to open the post office as normal on the morning Friday, February 11.
But she said when she went down some time after 8.15am the shop was still shut.
Mrs Todd, who has two grown-up children, said: "I'm just trying to get my life back
together and on an even keel but there are obviously a lot of things to sort out which if he was here would be much easier to do.
"All his family are worried and just want to get back to some kind of normality.
"I can't sit here worrying about what he might be doing when I've got more important day to day things to sort out.
She added: "I want him back but whether he wants to be found I can't say. He hasn't been in touch for the last four months but knows where we are if he wants to."
It is thought that Mr Todd left the post office in a white Ford Orion, registration number F167 CUM, and police established from a credit card receipt that his car was filled with petrol at a service station on the A1 in Nottinghamshire the following day.
Police have ruled out kidnapping or foul play but have said the postmaster's disappearance was out of character.
Mr Todd, who had been studying to become a lay preacher with the United Reformed Church when he disappeared - is described as white, 5ft 11in and of very large build,
weighing 18 to 20 stone, with short greying hair and blue/grey eyes.
Anyone with information about the
postmaster's disappearance or whereabouts should call Keighley police on (01535) 617059.
