Bradford Bulls' former Great Britain full-back Stuart Spruce was today given the all-clear to resume playing after a six-match absence.

Spruce has not figured in the side since the shock defeat at Warring-ton at the end of May due to knee surgery but coach Matthew Elliott admits it will be a relief to get him back at London Broncos on Sunday.

"It's been tough without Stuart because it is such a specialist position," said Elliott.

"Henry Paul has filled in well there but the side loses something with him at the back.

"In addition, Michael Withers and Justin Brooker were under an injury cloud when they stood in at full back so it will be great to have Stuart back.

"We made him our defensive captain at the start of the season and he has played a key role, making us so difficult to breach.

"He also communicates very well with those in front of him which is very important."

Spruce goes into the game well down on match fitness but Elliott feels the advantages of having him back far outweighs any problems.

"If he blows up we will just deal with it at the time," he added.
