A ten-years-old pupil of St Anne's school, Keighley has written to the Keighley News asking us to publicise his plea for bad drivers to clean up their act.
Omar Khan, a year five pupil at the Keighley town centre school, has to cross North Street every time he travels to and from school to his Holker Street home and knows only too well the perils of bad driving.
Omar, who has been involved in a couple of near misses whilst crossing the road, says: "I have young nieces and nephews and I'm concerned that if they go onto the road they will get hurt because the drivers just come out so fast.
"I wrote the letter because I want to try and stop these bad drivers," he says.
St Anne's head teacher Catherine Goodridge says: "This is a very important subject to the school and I'm very proud of Omar - he's a model pupil."
Plans for a major overhaul of North Street were scrapped last year after traders and residents objected to the original blueprint. A new set of proposals were drawn up in December and made available for public consultation.
