TWO young brothers from Arncliffe will be showing off their acting talents at this year's Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Matthew and Oliver Hornsey are pupils at the Yorkshire School of the Performing Arts and will be performing The Sound of Music at the festival.

Before its run in Edinburgh, the show will preview for three nights, July 13, 14 and 15, at Bingley Arts Centre.

Matthew, 14, is a pupil at Ermysted's Grammar School, understudies the television star Sam Townend in the part of Friedrich, and in Edinburgh he will appear in the part for at least one performance.

At Bingley, he will appear on stage as a Nazi soldier and will help behind the scenes.

Oliver, 12, a pupil at Upper Wharfedale School, shares the part of Kurt and he will be performing the role on Friday July 14 at Bingley as well as sharing performances in Edinburgh.

The brothers began acting while they lived in London with the Dulwich Drama Group.

Since moving to Arncliffe two years ago, they have become pupils of Stage 84 and have appeared in local productions - Oliver with Sutton Amateurs, Macbeth with West Riding Opera, and in Dick Whittington, the winter pantomime at the Alhambra Theatre in Bradford.

Both boys also starred in Valeria Jackson's Showcase 2000 at Bingley. In addition, Matthew will perform with Stage 84 at the Millennium Dome in October.

Both boys want to go on the stage, but they know that it is a chance business and that their schoolwork is important. After Edinburgh, they will return to school and Matthew will begin his GCSE course.

The Sound of Music at the Bingley Arts Centre will start at 7.15pm.

Tickets will cost £7.50 with children and senior citizens paying £5.50. Bookings can be made through the Bradford Theatres Box Office on 01274 752000.
