Robert Wynn knocked off the winning runs with just three balls to spare to clinch a thrilling victory for Steeton.

Even though Steeton looked a much stronger outfit than Skipton, the Dales side had a point to prove having just been promoted.

However, Skipton struggled against a very hostile opening spell from Guy Saxton and Stuart Hudson, who finished with 4-80. Skipton's main batters, Steve Young (78) and Chris Gott (47), pulled them round with notable contributions as they finished on 185-7.

Hudson followed up his useful bowling spell with an adventurous 35 at the top of the Steeton innings, but wickets were steadily falling. An aggressive innings from the veteran together with a noteable contribution from Andrew Smith at the end mean that Steeton needed four from the last over.

Phil Barrett was there to guide a single off the second ball before Wynn plundered a superb four off the third ball to win the game for the Summerhill side and take his personal total to 58.

After a string of good results in recent weeks Steeton are in good form to tackle current league leaders Adel at home tomorrow (Saturday).

Dave Jackson rescued Silsden's innings with a solid 44 after seeing openers Hayden Tennant and John Akrigg perish without getting out of single figures. D Bainbridge weighed in with 36 and Andy Pullen scored 22 to push the total up to 154-8 after struggling early in the innings.

North Leeds made sure of a firm foundation for their innings and had reached 128, the winning post in sight, before the second wicket fell. Tennant was brought into the attack in a last ditch effort to dislodge the batsmen and collected four wickets, but by then it was too late.

Steeton 2nds could not come to terms with the power of the Calverley batsmen who piled up a monster 240-3 as all the bowlers came in for heavy punishment.

Opener Dave Robinson worked hard to rescue things with a battling innings of 59, but J Lee picked up six wickets as the Steeton lower order collapsed to a 95-run defeat.
