Strike bowling partnership Ross and Dale Towler have been selected for the Bradford League XI which plays the Yorkshire League in the White Rose Trophy semi-final this weekend.

The match, one of the biggest in the competition, is to take place at Keighley's Lawkholme ground on Sunday.

The teams have been selected from the two leagues which are considered to provide the best league cricket in Yorkshire.

"It is a great honour for Keighley to have been chosen to stage the game, and an even bigger honour to have two members of our club in the team. We are expecting a good crowd - all we need now is some real cricketing weather to make it a superb day, " said Keighley secretary, Mike Parker.

n KEIGHLEY are searching for batting consistency to give the team a lift as they move in to the second half of the season.

After a promising start to the campaign performance have dropped with the club searching for leading batsmen to take control. Several of the players have been getting off to useful starts, but have failed to go on a build a big score.

The bowlers have performed with credit, but need a total approaching 200 if they are to be able to use their variety of styles to maximum effect.

Saturday's game at Gomersal followed a familiar pattern.

Ahmed Gulshaeraz, taking the wicket as fourth batsman, went on to score 37 and was backed up by a late knock of 38 by N Kamal as they reached 162 for eight.

Brothers Ross and Dale Towler opened the bowling attack, but the home side dug in, knowing they could pace their innings carefully.

Gomersal, newcomers to the league this season, maintained their unbeaten record as they secured a comfortable five wicket win.

Keighley 2nd XI suffered badly at the hands of the Gomersal second string.

The bowlers were given heavy treatment as the visitors piled up a total of 205-7. After tea the Keighley side collapsed to 94 all out.
