A UNIQUE 'Internet shop' at a village station has closed it's doors after initially being declared a roaring success.

Passion Internet Shop at Menston Station has ceased

trading just ten months after it opened.

The shop was set up following the revamp of the station by rail company Northern Spirit last year.

Owners of the shop said they believed it was the first of its kind in the world when it opened.

The shop offered non computer-owners a virtual shopping service, to buy cheaper holidays and goods on-line. Experienced 'surfers' working at the shop used the Internet to find a better deal for customers.

Another service offered at the shop was a gaming network, where computer games buffs could battle it out with opponents. Menston youngsters visited the caf after school to play computer games.

The shop also offered customers insurance on all Internet purchases, and recently started up an Internet caf for people to drop in and use e-mail facilities, following many requests from customers.

Staff claimed in February that business at the shop was booming, and they were planning to buy more computers to cope with demand.

But Manager Liz Anthony said this week she was not in a position to comment on the reasons for the closure, or the future of the

business.

Northern Spirit was aware of the closure but unable to say what would happen in the future until next week.
