THE HAREWOOD Estate is expecting to play host to thousands of visitors this weekend for the annual Harewood Show.
Organisers say entries for the 55th agricultural show this Sunday are booming, and they have lined up a wide variety of family
entertainments.
Horse and pony classes have already
attracted many entries, including Shires, Shetlands, Dales ponies and Hackneys in the well-supported private driving classes.
There will also be a full schedule of showjumping classes.
The dog show has attracted 750 entries in 220 classes, and working sheepdogs will
compete in the show's own sheepdog trials. Otley Dog Training Club will be organising a display of dog agility.
Show chairman Mary Fallas said there were many entrants for the cattle, sheep and goats classes and the show promises to exhibit some interesting rare breeds.
She is expecting a bounty of entrants for the handicrafts and produce section, with plenty of interest from youngsters.
She said: "Entries in all classes are fantastic. We're hoping for a large crowd. We had around 6,000 visitors last year, this year we're aiming for 10,000."
Alongside the show entries, visitors will be entertained by a display of Irish dancing,
falconry display and a jazz quartet. The Bramham Moor Hounds will also go through their paces in the ring.
Vintage tractors and vehicles will be on
display throughout the day, and children will be able to enjoy fairground rides set up on the showground.
Admission to the show is £4 for adults. The first show classes begin at 8.30am.
