CENTENARIANS from Otley and Yeadon joined national celebrations on Friday to mark the Queen Mother's 100th birthday.
One hundred-year-old Freda Carnochan, from Otley, and 104-year-old Louie Sandbrook, from Yeadon, joined others at a special party at Marriott Hollins Hall Hotel in Baildon.
The couple, who were joined by others of 100 years old and more, were treated to drinks and a lunch in the luxury hotel's Heathcliff restaurant.
Paul Marlow, general manager, said: "We wanted to become involved in this historic occasion and decided we should honour centenarians from the surrounding area by inviting them to a complimentary lunch at the hotel where they were treated like royalty."
Miss Sandbrook was praised a few years ago when she single-handedly tackled thieves who broke into her house. Then in her late nineties, she chased off the youths, who she had stumbled across in her home, with a broom.
