REIGNING and multi-world trials champion Dougie Lampkin didn't disappoint his home fans when - in front of a large local following at Addingham Moorside - he stormed to a convincing victory to wrap up his sixth domestic title in seven short years.
Absolutely in a class of his own Dougie made the
brilliant event, organised by the Yeadon and Guiseley Motorcycle club, all his own as he made light work of a course that proved a stiff test for the remainder of the entry. Three exceptional laps, losing only a single mark on each tour of the twelve rocky hazards, meant Lampkin romped home a full 34 marks clear of the next rider.
Commenting on his latest success, Lampkin said it han't been as easy as it may have seemed.
"Obviously this is certainly my home venue and Ive spent a lot of hours over the years practising on this famous hillside, but with me being abroad so much now Im sure other riders now come here as often as me.
"This is really the first time I have ridden locally since winning my latest world title, so in some ways its a bit like a coming home type celebration.
"I was so intent on putting on a good display for my fans I actually was a little tense early on. But once I started to get a few cleans under my belt I felt quite at home and in the end really enjoyed my day. Winning by such a margin is obviously a great way to take the title."
