Thousands of revellers will have a double cause for celebration when they attend Bradford's second-biggest Mela this weekend.
They will be marking the Millennium as well as Pakistan Independence Day at the two-day extravaganza being staged at Bradford Moor Park in Killinghall Road, Bradford.
The Millennium Mela, organised by United Asian Arts, runs from noon until 9pm tomorrow and Sunday.
A host of top international performers have been lined up for the event, which is second only to the Bradford Festival Mela held in Peel Park earlier in the summer.
Up to 30,000 visitors are expected to flock to the Millennium Mela.
Many of the artists taking part will be from Pakistan, including Afshan Bhatti, film star Azhar Rangeela, actress and dancer Aiman and Bashir Lohar.
There will also be entertainment by the Cool Rhythm Boys from Manchester, the Mast Group from Bradford, singer JD, Fais Ali, Shola and the group Saaz. The Asian Sound Radio Roadshow and the Pakistani Channel will also both be at the event.
A spokesman for the organisers said: "The Millennium Mela will be even bigger and better with stage performances on both days from 2pm onwards.
"Admission is free so this is the ideal chance to celebrate the Millennium and Pakistan Independence Day."
There will be a fun fair, food stalls, children's arenas, exhibitions of arts and crafts and women's activities. Proceeds will go the Bradford Eid Committee.
Anyone who is interested in making a booking for a stall or further information about the event should ring Mehrban Mussain on (07730) 735636.
