Teenage golfer Lindy Jowitt has qualified for the grand final of the 2000 Golf Foundation Weetabix age group championships, to be held at Patshull Park in Shropshire later this month.
Fifteen-year-old Lindy, (right) who plays off 13 handicap, shot a gross 83 to win her U16 age group in the regional final at the par 72 Howley Hall course. The grand final which will take place August 21-23.
Keighley and Branshaw member Lindy, who plays for the Yorkshire Girls team, is the sister of Branshaw assistant professional Simon Jowitt.
Simon, 19, is now looking forward to starting his three-year PGA training diploma course after successfully completing a playing ability test at Bolton Golf Club. He shot rounds of 71 and 80 in the test to finish 11 over par for the 36 holes, comfortably beating the 15 over par qualifying level. The playing ability test is the final hurdle before starting his PGA training for Keighley member Simon, who had already passed a theory test.
