Hundreds of bright yellow plastic ducks floated down the River Wharfe when the Keighley Sea Cadet Unit staged a fundraising race.
It was launched from the Cavendish Pavilion bridge at Bolton Abbey by international concert pianist John Briggs, the unit's president, and Liz Green, of BBC Radio Leeds.
Unit chairman Gladys Briggs said 1,300 ducks had been entered.
It is hoped the event will raise at least £1,000 for group funds.
